Understanding The Problems With Getting Proper Child Care
If you are a working parent chances are that you will not be able to provide suitable child care for your child and if you are a single parent then chances of providing proper child care is even lower, especially in case of an emergency. What’s worse is the fact that inadequate child care can prove to be a major headache for many employers because their employees too will not be as productive as is desired because their minds will be more focused on child care issues.
Tardiness And Absenteeism
Thinking about how to care for a child can lead parents into becoming tardy and they will even become absentee workers and in fact, according to figures on this problem it has been found that a third of all sick leaves are taken on account of child care issues. It is never easy dividing your time between taking care of your child and fulfilling your work obligations.
It is therefore recommended that employers develop suitable programs to help employees take care of their children without becoming less productive. This will ensure that the work does not suffer and it will also reduce employee turnover. With the right child care arrangement in place, employers will be able to affect savings in terms of money spent on paying for employee absenteeism and in fact many child care measures are inexpensive to affect and they also qualify for tax deductions.
An on-site child care facility can prove to be the best option for a small business since it allows the employees to visit their children during rest periods and lunch peaks and so it helps reduce complications of needing pick up and drop off their children to facilities that are off-site. However, such child care facilities will cost the business a lot of money and so will not suit businesses that have limited funds available for this purpose.
Other alternative child care arrangements include using consortiums in which several small businesses get together and pool their resources in providing the necessary facilities. Some employers might prefer cutting some money from the salary of the employee which money can then be used to reimburse employees for cost of child care.
Choosing a child care center can be made easier if you visit the center to see what facilities are being provided. An impromptu visit will enable you to see firsthand how a center operates and so you will get a feel of things which will help you decide whether to send your child to a particular center or not.
